Why you should never buy LumiSpa from Amazon or eBay

Not jewelry related post! Just like to share some findings whilst using the new beauty gadget I've recently adopted!

I have got myself a LumiSpa last year during pre-launch and absolutely in love with it and won't stop talking about it to all my female friends, so during official launch my sister, mother, sister in law and mother in law placed their orders through de Cor's Beauty too.  But it has come to my surprise how so many people would actually buy LumiSpa from Amazon, eBay, Shopee or even Lazada! I was like... why??? Why would you want to buy something that needs it's warranty or guarantee off these unauthorized platforms?

So here's some extract from Nu Skin's official:

Nu Skin is a direct selling company that produces and distributes high quality products through a network of independent distributors. Nu Skin demonstrate their tradition of innovation through their comprehensive anti-aging product portfolio, rewarding business opportunity and corporate social responsibility initiatives. Nu Skin currently operates in nearly 50 markets worldwide.

Nu Skin of respective market has an exclusive right to import and distribute Nu Skin products. Nu Skin products are marketed and sold to Nu Skin local distributors by Nu Skin of each market. Nu Skin sell its products only to its distributors who under their agreements with Nu Skin, are required to sell Nu Skin products by way of direct selling but not by any other means. Nu Skin Policies and Procedures (“P&P”) strictly prohibit the promotion and sale of Nu Skin product by Distributors via the Internet using websites i.e. 11th Street, Lazada, Shopee, Amazon, eBay, Carousell and etc. which are not produced and/or approved by the company.

All products sold by Nu Skin in each market have been lawfully registered with the relevant authorities of respective market and comply with all the applicable law on food safety and cosmetic products.

Recently it has come to Nu Skin’s attention that some Nu Skin products are sold on websites other than Nu Skin official website (“Unauthorized Websites”). Nu Skin would like to highlight the following:

• The sale of Nu Skin products on these Unauthorized Websites is not authorized by Nu Skin;
• The products sold on these Unauthorized Websites may not have been registered in Malaysia;
• Nu Skin is not responsible for any violation of applicable product registration law and product safety law by these Unauthorized Websites or their website operators;
• Products purchased on these Unauthorized Websites are not qualified for Nu Skin’s generous satisfaction guarantee (where applicable), nor are the products guaranteed to be tamper free;
• Products purchased on these Unauthorized Websites are not qualified for Nu Skin’s refund policy without a valid sales order number from Nu Skin.

Anyone who wishes to buy Nu Skin products in their market should buy through the Nu Skin of their market's office or authorized Nu Skin distributors.

Now let's see what these means. I am just going to pick one VERY IMPORTANT reason why you should never, even though you could or would for whatever reason, buy from these e-commerce platforms.

Many might not know but every Nu Skin distributor knew, that anyone that sell on the Amazon, eBay, Lazada, Taobao, Shopee, Carousell, 11-Street, or any mass-sellers selling platforms, are actually risking their distributorship to be a seller there. These sellers will have to disguise their identity from the public when they are selling on these unauthorised websites / platforms, which means they won't be able to offer buyers the product of it's warranty or guarantee because you will need the original receipt (which has the distributor ID and name on it) for warranty or guarantee claims (Nu Skin guarantees the ageLOC LumiSpa to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 1 years from the original date of purchased, which is another reason not to buy from people who have stock in hand because the warranty and guarantee starts immediately from the date of purchase! Though this warranty does not cover damage to the products as a result of misuse or accident.

Again allow me if you may: because the receipt will expose the seller's distribution identity, and that the company would terminate their distributorship immediately once they identified the individual, you will never get the product warranty or guarantee that you deserved to have. It is true that you will never be able to purchase any of Nu Skin products, not just LumiSpa with it's warranty from these platforms.

There are more reasons why you should always purchase your LumiSpa from authorized entities, but in this blog I'm only going to share what's essential - just don't buy from unauthorized platforms. 

And no matter where you decide to buy your LumiSpa from, there's one unavoidable step - You must test your skins to find out what is your skins type before you buy your LumiSpa.
