Lilyv

IMG_9475 IMG_9492 IMG_9494 IMG_9516 IMG_9552_b IMG_9717 IMG_9723 IMG_9733
Chinese tend to read their supposedly fortune during Chinese New Year celebration, for as much as I would have ignored the commonly practiced activity, information reached out their ways from radios/ TVs and forwarded E-mails. So I’ve been advised to wear something round with diamonds last year, and my youngest brother was watching that TV show with me that moment. He’d asked if I could make something like that, I remember I said “shouldn’t be a problem.” He smiled, and said if I ever made one of those, he would want something like that, but for man, too.
Well, I WAS serious about making such thing is POSSIBLE, what I did not tell him was for as much as I have visualized it in my mind there and then, the conclusion I made was – too hard. I won’t want to start this unless 1) I am absolutely free and bored, 2) it is 100% necessary.
A little background of how this thing came about again after one year.
A friend requested for a pair of ROSE studs, and as I was making the stud base, she requested to have diamonds surrounding it. Hmm. Surrounding diamonds again. Well to cut it short, that request somehow reminded me that I do have a NEED to create something truly for myself, for an event happening this coming Saturday, and as I put the ROSE studs on hold for now since there are flaws needs to be fixed (I can’t figure out how yet), I jumped in for this project for myself. Yes you heard me right – this is something truly for myself. A total different approach of attaching diamond cuts Cubic Zirconias as compared to ROSE studs, another round of lots of trials and errors, too many wires and finger skins gone to waste. And now I am think I am done with this.

Personally, I am super satisfied with this pair of earrings. Do you watch Gossip Girl? I seriously think this IS something Lillian van der Woodsen a.k.a Lily would wear! *BIG BIG GRIN* – so now you know how the name “Lilyv” come about!

Hope you enjoyed viewing!
Have a great week ahead!

張三丰的智慧

IMG_9287
IMG_9423

[There are some terms can’t be translated into English and hence I am posting this entry in Chinese language. In short, the lesson learnt from this project is to forget everything I’ve learned about wires and knots, then let the new wires and knots surprised me in the end. The first picture shows the ROSE stud I have had in mind for a longest time and finally made, and the second picture shows the outcome after much of the brain-storming sessions with Christine. I like this kind of new sparks, and I appreciate all of the input she’d shared. :)]

Revised – Rose Surrounded by Diamond Cuts CZ Stones, Studs

IMG_9423 IMG_9427 IMG_9434 IMG_9439

Pretty much got this finalized. I’ve replaced the stones I’ve used in the first attempt to give it a more steady finish.

Rose Stud with CZ

IMG_9348 IMG_9351 IMG_9352 IMG_9376 IMG_9391
ROSE stud surrounded by Cubic Zirconias.
I like working with Christine – it was her idea to replace the focal stone with Swarovski Crystal Pearl (Gold), and surround the Rose with sparkling stones after I’ve told her the stud base is extendible.
I value constructive feedback, I am more than willing to take up new challenges and I am thrilled seeing the result.

Oh my poor fingers: ROSE Stud {Colour Mixing}

IMG_9302 IMG_9303 IMG_9305 IMG_9314 IMG_9317 IMG_9318

Seriously, what do you think? I think the goldish made the texture shout, I think it is gorgeous, I think it made the details even more…visible!

Again this is yet another experiment piece – putting silver and goldish metal together. Unfortunately the half-hard non-tarnish brass simply isn’t right for this design, my poor fingers, though I might eventually make a pair for myself for keepsake.

There…. Observe my finger – those aren’t dirt, it’s my dead skin, I’ve made the stud last night and this picture is captured this morning, I thought my finger is sending me some sort of signal/warning. I think I should ditch this idea haha. I need be kind to my fingers so that I could create more! :P

What ya think?

ROSE Studs

IMG_9275 IMG_9287 IMG_9290 IMG_9291 IMG_9292 IMG_9293

This is a commissioned piece, still in prototyping and proof-of-concept stage.

The mission is to turn ROSE design into studs, and boy it is difficult. Anyway I am glad that I’ve at least made it to the success, though there are room for improvement and to be refined.

I will post the finalized piece if there is any, so check back soon!

I am using this as bookmark now, and I am loving it. :)

By the way, found a new way to attach the Diamond Cut Cubic Zirconia with wires! Will try to include that into future tutorial if there is any! :)

Christmas @ Sing-a-pore!

So i went down to Singapore for Christmas - stay calm, Singaporeans, I didn’t join the crowd in O.Road, I wasn’t one of those 60 000 folks on the street that night.

It’s an escape for myself and hubby from the hectic KL life, and the itinerary says it’s a “Eat and Get Fat Trip”. We left KL at 8pm last Wednesday and arrived SG at 12-ish in a.m. Then stayed there til 28th Dec 2009.

Here’s some thing to share:

Christmas Eve – instead of count down with the anonymous, we stayed home and had home cook. Yum!

IMG_8709 IMG_8715 IMG_8717 IMG_8719 IMG_8724 IMG_8747 IMG_8750 IMG_8752 IMG_8767

P.S. Cafe – don’t go, too expensive, and they will give you mosquito repellant if you complain there’s mosquito, and it cost us SGD$165 for 5 person for those bacon-sausage-pancake breakfast, and did not taste extraordinarily nice.

IMG_8770IMG_8775 IMG_8808 IMG_8809 IMG_8810 IMG_8812 IMG_8773 IMG_8774

 IMG_8792 IMG_8799

And something cool I think you might love to know:

Durian puff - SGD$32 for 20 pieces, eat this when it’s not stone cold, it’s de-li-cious!

IMG_8970

And this – The most expensive truffles I’ve tasted ever, SIL bought it unintentionally, and hence we get to eat them. You don’t want to know it’s price. :P

IMG_8986

So now we are back to where we were, feeling totally recharged, I think everyone should go on a holiday, be free from internet and the city, be absolutely free from people except for family as well. :)
