Grabbed this picture straight off from de Cor's Handmades' instagram, a prototype of my latest project. Look interesting yes? It's going to be pretty, I am thinking of making a pair of studs (again!!!)

The knots are not hard to tie, but it definitely, considerably harsh to my fingers. Can't wait to see the end result!

[Prototype] Wire Jewelry Malaysia – Silver WAU-Hoop Earrings, Version Three

Presenting Version three of Silver WAU-hoop earrings. Sorry for the delay, I have been down with cold and have been coughing my lung out for almost 6 days now, went for X-ray (yes you heard me right) and doctor said there are white dots around my lung, I saw the film too, it looks like a spider net, friend said it’s shows that my lung is infected, but good thing is doctor confirmed that there isn’t any abnormal growth. All these were due to the poor quality of air I am breathing in recently, lots of family members and friends fell ill due to our dear neighbor Indonesia burn their forest yet again – and if you don’t already know, this had been their yearly activity that had never failed to happen, usually it happens in mid of the year, although this year they had delayed it, but now we are still blanketed by smog from forests fire in Indonesia, Singapore didn’t escape this time.

Well back to WAU-Hoop Earrings version three, customer confirmed on this design (as I have expected), and I am going to break my silver to construct it as soon as I recover from my cough.

I have used 20ga, 18ga, 28ga and 30ga wires for this creation. Hope you enjoy viewing!

[Prototype] Wire Jewelry Malaysia – Silver WAU-Hoop Earrings, Version Two

 

As promised, version two this is. :)

After showing Version one to the customer, he was happy with it but I felt something is missing. Those are just very very simple loops and swirls and I thought I could do better than that, so I went back home and gave it another go.
I have used 18ga, 20ga, 22ga, 28ga, and 30ga wires for this. Same materials, different wires arrangement that’s all.

[Prototype] Wire Jewelry Malaysia – Silver WAU-Hoop Earrings, Version One

Custom Jewelry design is definitely picking up in Malaysia, myself and other Malaysian Jewelry artist friends was just talking about how our customer base had slowly changed from solely foreigner market to having Malaysian customers, and instead of like how they used to turned their back when we told them our price, they came to us with correct budget now, and they understand it’s silver nature that they will turn black (tarnished) after awhile.

Here’s another commissioned order by a Malaysian customer. This time I made a Wau-hoop earrings.

Extract from wikipedia:

Wau bulan is an intricately designed Malaysian moon-kite (normally with floral motifs) that is traditionally flown by men in the Malaysian state of Kelantan. It is one of Malaysia's national symbols, along some others being the kris and hibiscus. The reverse side of the fifty-cent coin of Malaysia (1989 series) features an intricately-decorated wau bulan with a hummer on top^[1]. The logo of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) is also based on this kite.

There are many types of wau in Malaysia, each with its own specialty. Wau kucing (cat kite) and wau merak (peacock kite) are some of the variants.

This is the first attempt, and it’s a prototype, so please bear with me if you have spotted any flaws. :)

I made 3 versions of WAU-Hoop Earrings for my customer to choose, not because he’d asked for it, it was just me who’d thought I can come up with better designs - and I was right, he chose the 3rd version.

Handmade Wire Jewelry: Silver Lotus Earrings for Wedding V2 Prototype

Handmade Silver Earrings for a wedding

Based on the feedbacks and comments (thanks to you guys, my dear artists friends!!! You guys are amazing!!!) I have gathered for S, my client, she decided that the first version design was too big for her. I’ve kept the core components of the design, i.e. the lotus petal’s like shapes, and restructured the rest. For the petals instead of using purely 20ga wires, I have used 20ga for the petal’s frames, and 22ga for the inner swirls, unlike the previous version, all Cubic Zirconias donuts have been replaced with with white Swarovski Crystal Pearls, faceted Rock Crystal donuts and smooth round Rock Crystals.

As for the top part of the design – basically I got it restructured. Instead of locking each components with interlinks I have made a full tear drops shape of frame, and decorate it with a coiled wires, and S likes the moonstone, so I am keeping it. This is how it look like on my ear!

It is overall half an inch smaller as compared to the first version. I am very reluctant to put them together and compare, they are not exactly the same and the details of it aren’t the same anymore too, putting them together to compare is simply not being fair to the both of them, but just for you to get the feel of it, here’s when I put them together.

The smaller version requires alot more attention as compared to version 1, not only because of it’s overall smaller size that made it more challenging in terms of putting all components together, it is also very challenging for my eyes. I think I seriously in need of a table magnifying glass, perhaps this Daylight Ultimate Table Top Magnifying Lamp Antique Brass for Low Vision can be a very good gift to myself for my upcoming birthday. But then again Oh my god I am talking about magnifying glasses. Sigh age is catching up!

We will make a decision soon and hopefully get this finalized by end of tomorrow, this design needs to be done before 1st October 2010.

Handmade Wire Jewelry: Silver Lotus Earrings For wedding, Prototype

 

Happy Sunday all!!! Hope you have a wonderful week ahead soon!

This is yet  another new design to add into my collection! Again I am wearing it so that the customer know how does it look like on human ear! *Hey did you see my hair had grown. :P *
Just curious each time when you got a commissioned request from a customer that’s soon to be a bride, what she’d asked for? For me they often ask for something “safe”, so safe that’s so predictable, something cannot go wrong with. But why? It’s your big day, and you have a whole team of people you would hire to make you pretty (e.g. make up artist) and make you look pretty (your photographer), why not try something bold and be brave? :)

Handmade Luxurious and exotic design

So here what I have for her. She’s pretty much my height my weight and my everything, so she’s fit for something bigger, or bold. I considered adorning the piece with red garnet or teardrop amethyst, in the end I decided on Moonstone. The little shade of blue that shines when it undergo some light convinced me.
Measurement: 2inches long from ear wires, 1.5inches at it’s widest measure. Sturdy and light.
Material: Made with Artistic Wires (for prototyping only), adorned with Rock Crystals, Cubic Zirconia donut beads, and Moonstone.


Now I am waiting for the customer to confirm the design, then I will go ahead and break my silver for this pair of earrings. Wish me luck!

Wired Chinese Knot: Knotted Oval Lace Earrings for Wedding, Prototype

Happy Monday all, a greeting from MALAYSIA!

 

This is a new design to add into my collection! I am wearing it so that the customer know how does it look like on human ear!

Wired Chinese Knots to deliver the lacey fancy effect, oval shape with sharp bottom, a little bit of wire weaving on top. This is a prototype piece for a soon-to-be bride in October 2010, the design is not finalized yet, I would definitely welcome constructive feedback!

Those pearls are in pink color, because this is for the evening session; I am fine with adorning this pair of earrings with white pearls too, her call. :)

P/S As I am posting these pictures I already worked out an improved version of it, also gathered some feedback, that said, check back soon for the improved version later, and check back again soon for the finalized (finger crossed) version. I want to try to achieve the goal by end of this week. :P

Wired Chinese Knot – The Perfectionist

A sneak peek of my latest project!!! *Weeeeee*

New knot desu ne!!! Actually it isn’t a new “new knot” per se, Chinese Knotting is well known of it’s versatility and hence, this knot is a derivation of a basic Chinese knot itself. I am still in the midst of exploring it’s possibilities, finding a perfectmatch for this knot is going to be fun!!! I start it with ring, and am confident it will be made into bracelet and earrings. I lurrrve new earrings designs!

It’s been awhile since I picked up my pliers, aside from the recent copyright infringement incident, I too am busy learning some new stuff to value add myself. Have you heard of SEO? I think everyone should pay some attention to it. Other than that, finalizing my course outline also keeping me busy, remember to write to me if you 1) stay in Malaysia, 2) interested to learn to make jewelry that can sell, 3) interested to run an online business.

Oh one more thing, to all Malaysian bloggers – if you are with Google Adsense you might have to register a company, I know, that sounds silly, it is depressing that us people are so restricted to be creative in earning money, but please do whatever it takes so that you will not be positioned at the false. Malaysia is a place for survivals, we all will live. To register a company, avoid The Mall period – they are slow and they will handle agent’s requests first, go to the one in Shah Alam, and go there early, they open from 8:30am, you should be done by 10:30am if you do everything correctly – bring a copy of your I/C.

Today’s lunch is McDonald’s McDeluxe spicy chicken burger, with a complimentary Coke – well, thanks LH, actually. She had migraine and took some pain killers, so she had to ditch her Coke; I was craving for just the burger when I placed my order, no Coke, and I don’t mind taking over her Coke since painkillers and soda cannot mix. :P

Yes this is the revised design of Celtic Earrings I’ve formerly posted. :)

{Prototype} Celtic Chandelier Earrings

Again this is a custom order – and again, above pictures are showing the prototype piece of it, so stay calm if you’ve spotted some flaws here and there – I’ve a listed them down and determined that they will never show up in the final execution. I will be making it into silver once the design is confirmed.

OH oh! Those yellow Zircones are one of the rare pretty “breed”, totally yummy! :D

{Prototype} Victorian Earrings – Smoky Quartz And Cubic Zirconias

This is a custom order – and above pictures shown the prototype piece. I will be making it into silver once the design is confirmed.

Just a little something to share – I religiously practice the prototyping phase for each customized order although it is extremely time consuming and a lot of resources are bound to be “invested” a.k.a. “wasted”, I’d rather go through it nonetheless rather than breaking my silvers creating something I won’t be proud of at the end of the day. I’ve scrapped 3 finished designs to finally come to this one – the ONE that I could proudly present. :)
