Handcrafted Alba Earrings from Italy

Etsy find of the day! 100% handcrafted, super eye catching Alba Earrings by Joy Franklin.
Source: Alba Earrings by AThousandJoys
Materials: Sterling Silver
Measurement: 4.2cm x 2.8cm.

Joy Franklin was inspired by botanical drawings from the illuminated manuscripts  of the Middle ages, the earrings are made with 92.5 sterling silver, each component was handcut, soldered then polished carefully by Joy, and then the buds were hand engraved and oxidized to bring out the details. Come with 92.5 sterling silver posts with butterfly backs.

Totally my cup of tea. :)

Interchangeable Knotted Flower Petals for Studs and Hoops Earrings, Wired Chinese Knot Jewelry

I am totally excited about this newly finalized creation!
I was cracking my head on what do I do about the knotted flower petals and then I decided to leave it as it is so YOU can decide what to do about it. :)

With an almost 11mo baby I have, as usual, very limited time to work with my wires, so this pretty took me about 5 days to complete, averagely 2 hours a day, so it's a total 10 hours, not too bad for a handmade jewelry project. :)

A side view of it, so you have some idea on it's weave. I bend it a little to give it some waves so it won't look as boring:

I first fit my 0.8ct Diamond Ear Studs to it, it gives it a new life instantly!

And it goes really well with my Platinum Enhanced 92.5 Sterling Silver Ear Studs with Cubic Zirconia Stones too.. :)

I then test it out with my Rose Studs Earrings, it is still looking pretty.

And last but not least, just yet another very popular studs design of mine: ZHU Studs.

It works for hoops earrings too - the plain ones. :)

A quick video on it's look and feels:

Wire Jewelry Malaysia – Silver WAU-Hoop Earrings, Finalized Version

Silver WAU-Hoop Earrings
Silver WAU-Hoops (Right)

Silver WAU-Hoops (Left)
Silver WAU-Hoops (Side View)
It's been almost three weeks now since I've last picked up wires - Malaysia had officially entered the raining season of the year, and if you are visiting Malaysia right now you will see many people walking while coughing. I had been coughing and not able to sleep until I went for X-ray to confirm there's nothing weird going on in my lungs, and then, those drugs made me drowsy and tired all the time, I figured it certainly is not fair for my customers if I were to create anything and sell it to them then, so I hang on to it until I am 100% recovered.

So now, I am presenting you the finalized Wire Jewelry Malaysia - Silver WAU-Hoop Earrings in 92.5 silver now! :) They have 4cm diameter and each one of them weighed 4.3gram. All metals are silver, adorned with Yellow Zircons and Gold color Swarovski Crystal Pearls. To wear them, please open the hoops side-ways instead of pulling them left-right-apart to preserve it's shape, wide them with anti-tarnish clothe before put them back into anti-tarnish bag or jewelry box.

I guess I am back in designing and creating again now then. :) Do check back often for updates!
Take care!

[Prototype] Wire Jewelry Malaysia – Silver WAU-Hoop Earrings, Version Three

Presenting Version three of Silver WAU-hoop earrings. Sorry for the delay, I have been down with cold and have been coughing my lung out for almost 6 days now, went for X-ray (yes you heard me right) and doctor said there are white dots around my lung, I saw the film too, it looks like a spider net, friend said it’s shows that my lung is infected, but good thing is doctor confirmed that there isn’t any abnormal growth. All these were due to the poor quality of air I am breathing in recently, lots of family members and friends fell ill due to our dear neighbor Indonesia burn their forest yet again – and if you don’t already know, this had been their yearly activity that had never failed to happen, usually it happens in mid of the year, although this year they had delayed it, but now we are still blanketed by smog from forests fire in Indonesia, Singapore didn’t escape this time.

Well back to WAU-Hoop Earrings version three, customer confirmed on this design (as I have expected), and I am going to break my silver to construct it as soon as I recover from my cough.
I have used 20ga, 18ga, 28ga and 30ga wires for this creation. Hope you enjoy viewing!

[Prototype] Wire Jewelry Malaysia – Silver WAU-Hoop Earrings, Version One

IMG_4669

Custom Jewelry design is definitely picking up in Malaysia, myself and other Malaysian Jewelry artist friends was just talking about how our customer base had slowly changed from solely foreigner market to having Malaysian customers, and instead of like how they used to turned their back when we told them our price, they came to us with correct budget now, and they understand it’s silver nature that they will turn black (tarnished) after awhile.

Here’s another commissioned order by a Malaysian customer. This time I made a Wau-hoop earrings.

Extract from wikipedia:

Wau bulan is an intricately designed Malaysian moon-kite (normally with floral motifs) that is traditionally flown by men in the Malaysian state of Kelantan. It is one of Malaysia's national symbols, along some others being the kris and hibiscus. The reverse side of the fifty-cent coin of Malaysia (1989 series) features an intricately-decorated wau bulan with a hummer on top[1]. The logo of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) is also based on this kite.

There are many types of wau in Malaysia, each with its own specialty. Wau kucing (cat kite) and wau merak (peacock kite) are some of the variants.

This is the first attempt, and it’s a prototype, so please bear with me if you have spotted any flaws. :)

I made 3 versions of WAU-Hoop Earrings for my customer to choose, not because he’d asked for it, it was just me who’d thought I can come up with better designs - and I was right, he chose the 3rd version.

I will be posting them soon – so stay tuned and check back often!

This item is now available in my Etsy and ArtFire Store.

Fine Art Jewelry, Wired Chinese Knot. 100% Handcrafted.

Do you realize sometimes when you wear a pair of hoops earrings, the design and the details on the earrings are sorta hidden? It is due to your ear's pierce. But hey, don't get me wrong! There is nothing wrong with that, in fact when that happened it only prove one thing - that your pierce is perfect.

When your earlobes are pierced perfectly, that's when you are able to carry some very, very demanding studs/ post earrings, look into the mirror! They sits perfectly at the center of your earlobes didn't they?!

But Yet! If you have a perfect piercing on your earlobes and you are about to wear a hoop-earrings, look again - and you will realize the designs and the details of the hoops will often be hidden, unless they are viewed from side.

I DO want my design to POP! Therefore I've been trying to design something that's more revealing - something suitable for all kinda ear-shapes and ear pierce positions.

So for this pair of hoop-earrings, I've added 3D elements to it. The diamond cut's Cubic Zirconia stones were arranged in the way that the stones are visible at all angles, be it your friend are looking at you from your absolutely front or side, they will see what you are wearing. :)

Hoops details:
Weight: 2.2gram (1.1gram each)
Diameter: 2cm

All metal are Sterling Silver, adorned with Cream color Swarvoski Crystal Pearls and Diamond cut Cubic Zirconias.

Ω Kindly Note: Item will be shipped 1-2 days upon payment received.
Your beautifully crafted Hoops will be delivered with quality jewelry box.

Thank you so much for viewing!

Trios - Hoops Earrings

Braided Cross Tutorial

ZHU Knotted Hoops Tutorial

Question:

“Can it be made using just plain wire, and not coiled wire? The coiled wire makes it more feminine in my opinion...and would be great for a lady, but for a man, I'd prefer regular plain wire.”

Answer:

“Coiled wires are more versatile for design as such. You could, however, try this design with plain wires but it has to be 26ga or 24ga, nothing thinner else you won't be able to see the knots...”

So…

Today I gave it a try of the mentioned answer just to proof the concept. A returning customer of mine (thank you!) dropped me a convo at Etsy requesting for a pair of Hoops Earrings. “Do whatever you want.”, she added. Don’t you just like a request like this? Get to close a deal yet able to make something totally your way? :)

So here’s the Hoops Earrings. She always like her stuff blings, so I attached 3 CZ Diamond cut stones to the hoops, utilizing the same knotting introduced in Braided Cross Tutorial without coiling the wires, and thankfully it turned out to be neat too! Hope she will like it, and hope you would like it too!

Enjoy your Sunday!
