Almost done, Handmade Statement Necklace, Swarovski Elements

The focal is almost done, then everything else are going to be less challenging. :) I have to think really hard next time before I take up a project that requires a lot of precisely calculation and tedious work, not that I don't like to, but with a toddler and a baby I can't really stay focus for too long, and it takes longer time to get back in mode each time. 😅 

Still excited to see it almost completely nonetheless.

Labradorite Rivet Earrings

Warning!!! Labradorite rondelles are riveted and wrapped on Mary's hand hammered sterling silver earwires. Labradorite is a soft gray stone with flashes of blue, green, and gold iridescence. These are natural semi-precious gemstones. Elegantly curved earwires have a strong feminine curve to them, and the rivets give a touch of industrial. The wires are lightly hammered and oxidized and polished for depth. Lightweight and comfortable, these earrings are perfect for every day wear.

Mary Anne's sterling rivet series earrings come in a longer and a petite size. This is the petite size. Earrings are about 1 and 3/8 inches long and the stones are about 6 to 8mm across.

Ruby Rivet Earrings

Raspberry red rubies dangle from Mary Anne's riveted and wrapped hand hammered sterling silver earwires. These little faceted ruby rondelles are just adorable, with their cheerful sparkle. Raspberry is the best term to describe the color... not a true red, but darker than fuschia, with a hint of plum purple in there too. The earwires have a strong feminine curve to them, and the rivets give a touch of industrial. Lightweight and comfortable, these earrings are perfect for every day wear.

Peridot Rivet Earrings

Mary Anne wrapped bright, limey green peridot rondelles on her hand hammered sterling silver earwires. It's hard to find a happier little gemstone than peridot. These are good quality natural stones, mostly translucent (but with some inclusions), and a cheerful bright green color. The earwires have a strong feminine curve to them, and the rivets give a touch of industrial. Lightweight and comfortable, these earrings are perfect for every day wear.  Earrings are about 1.25 inches long and the stones are 6-8mm across.

Iridescent Fairy Wings Collection.

It was a beautiful Monday and I was as usual, having a cuppa after feeding my 2.5 years old her breakfast while reading Etsy's trending, then the above picture caught my eyes. :)

Made of Swarovski Crystal, resin and sterling silver, this handmade item is made in Maryland, United States. Wings have a wonderful magenta pink glitter base, going with Opalescent white crystal color, size (from the tops of the earwires): Approximately 2 1/2".

The reason why I have decided to blog about this, was because I have received a great post engagement on my Fanpage in less than 24 hours, I am totally thrilled that people that reads my post find this interesting too. :)

I wonder how Christina manage to apply the resin so evenly on to the wire wing base... there must be a lot of attention and patience invested, to answer to this, I thought one of the feedback I have gotten (by Grace Morioka) from Facebook post could be pretty useful:

"I did this one about a year ago. Believe me, it's not easy... Toothpicks need to be used to get the resin into the tight spots. Hold the toothpick over the area where the resin needs to fill and then pour DOWN the toothpick. Even then, my butterflies were not nearly as pretty as these!!"

Perri's Chain Weave's Variations by Donna Spadafore

I have introduced Perri Jackson a.k.a. Shaktipaj Jewelry Designs's latest Wire Jewelry Tutorial (Perri's Chain Weave Wirework Donut Bail) last month, and these are some variation pieces done by Donna Spadafore a.k.a. Gailavira Jewelry.

The first two pictures in this blog post were her first two attempts. As she claimed: "I couldn't wait. I got all my orders filled as quickly as I could this morning so I could have a try at Perri Jackson's new tutorial. The chain part of the weave didn't come out as even as I had hoped, but not bad for a very rushed first try I guess. I decided to do the back a little differently so it would look different than the front to make it reversible (the original back is still pretty enough to be reversible, I just wanted something different)."

"Now I have all sorts of ideas. Next I want to try and put beads in the centers of the loops to see if I can make it work. After that, I'm wondering if I could combine the weave with the bottom part of my Hyacinth House design (that would end up with either 2 or 4 chains on the same weave). Too many ideas now...." She continues...

Above picture shows that Donna had introduced beads to the weave, she shared that by introducing beads in between weaves actually makes it harder to keep the weaves all even and centered,  she thinks she'll try keeping the frame just a tiny bit wider than the beads in her next attempt so that it will keep it all in line better.

Following two pieces are Donna's latest attempt as of today:
First picture: 20mm frosted black Agate donuts in copper. She used 28g for the weave and made it very narrow.

Second picture: Copper and blue Aventurine. Donna used a 50mm donuts. She combined the chain weave with another technique from her own hyacinth house tutorial for the bottom part of the design. It was a little tricky getting it started since she had to start on the narrow end. She ended up starting with only one chain, then having it branch off into two as the weave became wider.

As for the bracelet, she decided to add some beads as it's focal. The 4mm beads worked into the weave very well.

I certainly hope to see more pieces from Donna soon. :)

I've blogged about Liudmila's Wire Jewelry Haircombs yesterday, today I am going to compile her Wire Jewelry 2 Prongs Hairpins Gallery. The main different is that hair-combs are in comb format i.e. more sticks/ prongs, which could hold the bun's shapes better than 2 prongs hairpins, I personally uses 2 prongs hairpins on daily basis because hair-combs are usually too wide for my little hair buns, unless I am making french hair buns will I use hair-combs to stay put the shape. :)

So the first Wire Jewelry Hairpin above is Brass Blue Flower.

So there, hairpins series actually does come with silver prongs, I can't help wondering how sturdy it is, silver are usually soft unless it is heavily tumbled, these hairpins ought to be as tough as silver spoons otherwise it's going to be challenging to stay put the hair buns. :)
