Malaysia Wire Jewelry Fan Shaped Earjacket Earrings - Ice Fantasy

Completed this 2 days ago. This is yet another earjacket earrings that you could wear it in several arrangements. I will demonstrate how it can be worn/arranged in this post! 💋

So you could attach the bottom part of the earjacket behind your earlobe,  the studs will appeared as though it was floating.

Or you could wear it the normal way, both studs and the earjacket at the front of earlobe. I call this dangling earrings arrangement.

Or you could wear both back to back to create the 3D effect, i.e. one at the front and one at the back of earlobe. Note that the studs earring I have used are just the normal standard stud-earrings, it isn't cut longer to accommodate this Fan Shapred Ice Fantasy Earjacket Earrings, i have specifically made sure this earjacket earrings won't need any special requirements so you could wear this with any studs earrings you already have, it'll fit. :)

Thanks for viewing and i hope you're inspired.

Wire Crochet Conceptual Jewelry by Sowon Joo

It's been awhile since anything caught my eyes at all, so when I saw these, I can't wait to have it mentioned on my blog, people, meet Sowon Joo from Sowon Joo Studio!

In her artist statement 2016, excerpt:
"In particular, a lot of my work, especially after I became a mother, came from reflections on motherhood and contemplation on birth and growth. Such thoughts manifested themselves in the form of plants and their different stages, such as seeds, buds and fruits. They each reveal the miraculousness and wonder I experience when I observe their transformation and development. Such motives expressed through the shapes of various life symbols are woven with silver wire."

Colorful Handmade Ear Jacket Earrings

Colorful Handmade Ear Jacket Earrings

I only manage to make one side of the earrings today, and as I was wearing it to capture a photo (requested by customer, earrings will be sanitized later before shipping), I realized that I have forgotten one important thing - with multiple colors Chaton Montees I should reverse the crystal position for the other side of earrings to make them symatrical.

I am lucky to realize this before making the other side of earrings. ☺️

Handmade Ear Jacket Earrings, Finalized design, Wire Wrapped Jewelry

Handmade Ear Jacket Earrings, with height options.
This is the finalized version of my Handmade Ear Jacket Earrings - and have sold two pairs after posting it on social platforms (thank you!)

I am very happy to find that the design is so well accepted, though I must declare it once and for all here:
This design is not my "raw" design, I saw a machine made ear jacket like this on a magazine last year while I was pregnant with my son and for tradition sake, I was not supposed to hand make anything throughout the entire pregnancy, I waited, but started to sketch and brain storming if I were to make something similar with wire wrapping technique, how should I do so.

This design was first materialized on 11 May 2015, and revised yesterday, finalized today.

Just like to take the opportunity to thank you for liking it. :)

I will making different colors of ear jackets and list it in my minimalist section in Etsy soon, pop over if you are keen. :)

Handmade Ear Jacket with Three Height Options, Wire Wrapped Jewelry

Handmade Ear Jacket with Three Height Options - Wire Wrapped Jewelry

My 3 years old got excited and decided that she wants to have her earlobe pierced after seeing me putting this on - the revised version of Handmade Ear Jacket. 😝

Technically there are 3 height options, but the one closer to the bottom is only suitable for those who doesn't have much earlobes (there are people born without), I am using the middle ones; and the highest height option is for those who has thicker or largerer earlobes.

Overall experience: had lots of fun. :)

Will post more later.

Handmade Ear Jacket, Wire Wrapped Jewelry

Handmade Ear Jacket
I first saw a ear jacket design last year while i was pregnant with my second child and then it's been on my to-try list since, today I finally get to play around with it. It is not perfect, there are rooms for making it sturdier and steadier, I will give it a few more try when I am able to. :)

Handmade Ear Jacket

Again, it's a variation from my Bridesmaid Earrings Tutorial, using White Opal Swarovski Chaton Montee and Aquamarine Swarovski Chaton Montees. The array of Chaton Montees need to be sturdier and I will fix that in my next attempt.

Handmade Ear Jacket

The distance between the earrings post with the jacket is about 0.5", I understand that I should be making a few more length options but I have no idea what measurements should I be looking at right now - do share if you know!

As for the steps to transform that White Opal Swarovski Chaton Montee into stud earrings, be sure to subscribe to de Cor's Handmades Youtube Channel for free jewelry making video tutorials.

And... in case you don't know, I actually post more stuff on my instagram - http://instagram.com/decorshandmades, pop over if you are #instausers too, @decorshandmades or #decorshandmades.

That's all for now, I shall be busy for the next few days on refining my minimalist series before I post again, til then, see you around.

How To Collect Silver Bits and Silver Dust, Wire Jewelry Tutorial

I posted a topic asking what do I do with the silver dust left on my bench the other day in Wire Wrapped Jewelry Artist facebook group, and everyone suggested me to collect them and wait for it to accumulate, then sell it back to Rio's or melt it to create something. I never really had to collect silver dust until I started to drill my silver wires and blanks, using metal sheet puncher will leads to some silver bits for me to collect too, and I figure picking them up from the bench might be a little tricky because these silver dust or bits will get into those holes on my wooden bench.

So I took this opportunity to recycle two of my ST. DALFOUR 1 Ounce Jars to collect my silver bits and silver dust.

Here's the video - please excuse the fan spinning sound at the background, I was using an USB fan near my workbench lol.

P/S: I put a ceramic plate on top of my wooden work bench before start drilling my silver pieces just in case the hand-twist drill will drill through the wooden workbench and the wood dust mixed up with the silver dust.

Let me know what you think!

Handmade Self Locking Silver Hoops Earrings

Handmade Self Locking Silver Hoops Earrings

So I finally tried out Mary Anne Karen's Self-locking Hoops Earrings tutorial. Well I don't have most of the tools she was using, and I made do with whatever I have got.

I didn't have a drill press, I took an jewelry artist's advise that instead of getting a drill press (and other power tools), I've gotten myself an Eurotool EuroPunch 1.25mm Round Hole Punch Pliers for Sheet Metal, which, well, did not work for this project. Hole punch pliers JUST won't work for 20ga flatten wires, 18ga may be, provided you manage to flatten the wires VERY nicely.

To flatten the 20ga wires, I've tried using just one steel block and hammer it directly with chasing hammer - it didn't work out; I then tried using riveting hammer, kneading on the wires to spread out the silver - it became too thin for a pierce and when I use the hole puncher, it broke; so I end up using a square steel block on my Bench Block With 4" Rubber Base 3" Steel Block And Nylon Block Metal Working Anvil, by taping both blocks together to prevent the square steel block from sliding... argh it's too much work when you don't have the right tools! And the hole - it's not done by drill press, nor it was done by the hole puncher, I actually use an ordinary awl to pierce through the flatten part of the wires, and then file it to establish a bigger and wider hole to allow the other end of wires to go through.

The result is pretty close to Mary's hoops earrings, though I could have made these in much shorter time if I've got the right tools.. :P
