Lilyv

IMG_9475 IMG_9492 IMG_9494 IMG_9516 IMG_9552_b IMG_9717 IMG_9723 IMG_9733
Chinese tend to read their supposedly fortune during Chinese New Year celebration, for as much as I would have ignored the commonly practiced activity, information reached out their ways from radios/ TVs and forwarded E-mails. So I’ve been advised to wear something round with diamonds last year, and my youngest brother was watching that TV show with me that moment. He’d asked if I could make something like that, I remember I said “shouldn’t be a problem.” He smiled, and said if I ever made one of those, he would want something like that, but for man, too.
Well, I WAS serious about making such thing is POSSIBLE, what I did not tell him was for as much as I have visualized it in my mind there and then, the conclusion I made was – too hard. I won’t want to start this unless 1) I am absolutely free and bored, 2) it is 100% necessary.
A little background of how this thing came about again after one year.
A friend requested for a pair of ROSE studs, and as I was making the stud base, she requested to have diamonds surrounding it. Hmm. Surrounding diamonds again. Well to cut it short, that request somehow reminded me that I do have a NEED to create something truly for myself, for an event happening this coming Saturday, and as I put the ROSE studs on hold for now since there are flaws needs to be fixed (I can’t figure out how yet), I jumped in for this project for myself. Yes you heard me right – this is something truly for myself. A total different approach of attaching diamond cuts Cubic Zirconias as compared to ROSE studs, another round of lots of trials and errors, too many wires and finger skins gone to waste. And now I am think I am done with this.

Personally, I am super satisfied with this pair of earrings. Do you watch Gossip Girl? I seriously think this IS something Lillian van der Woodsen a.k.a Lily would wear! *BIG BIG GRIN* – so now you know how the name “Lilyv” come about!

Hope you enjoyed viewing!
Have a great week ahead!

張三丰的智慧

IMG_9287
IMG_9423

[There are some terms can’t be translated into English and hence I am posting this entry in Chinese language. In short, the lesson learnt from this project is to forget everything I’ve learned about wires and knots, then let the new wires and knots surprised me in the end. The first picture shows the ROSE stud I have had in mind for a longest time and finally made, and the second picture shows the outcome after much of the brain-storming sessions with Christine. I like this kind of new sparks, and I appreciate all of the input she’d shared. :)]

IMG_9423 IMG_9427 IMG_9434 IMG_9439

Pretty much got this finalized. I’ve replaced the stones I’ve used in the first attempt to give it a more steady finish.

I am using this as bookmark now, and I am loving it. :)

By the way, found a new way to attach the Diamond Cut Cubic Zirconia with wires! Will try to include that into future tutorial if there is any! :)

Snowflakes Studs, Wired Chinese Knot

 IMG_7836 IMG_7838IMG_7839 IMG_7834IMG_7840
Question: Is it possible to create a pair of studs earrings out from Snowflakes Earrings Tutorial that you’ve released for last year’s Christmas?
Answer: Of course.

In fact I have plans. A little something for you my dear readers, for those who have had the Snowflakes Earrings Tutorial since last year.
To make this pair of studs earrings, this is all you need to prepare:
Materials:
  1. 2” of 20ga dead soft round wires
  2. 7 X 2.5mm round beads (make sure the bead hole allows 20ga wires to go through)
Tools:
  1. Round nose pliers
  2. Flat nose pliers
  3. Flush cutter
  4. Ruler
Basic and Quick Instructions:
Step 1: Measure 1” from one end for both wires
Step 2: Make a cross and then insert one bead at each exit wires.
Step 3: Tie the Snowflakes knot as instructed in Snowflakes Tutorial.
Step 4: Now you will have 4 exit wires after tying the knot, choose ONE of the exit wires and fold it 90 degrees behind – this will become your post earrings wires. Measure 8mm for the rest of THREE exit wires and trim away the excess, use your round nose pliers to make a loop on each wires.
Step 5: Push each loop down to open them sideway, insert ONE bead to each loop. Push it back up to close the loop and you’re done.

Pretty simple isn’t it? I would love to spend more time creating more stuff but I really am very tight up recently, so I does everything in mind first. It took me 2 hours to visualize it in my mind before I execute it, and I’ve spent 30 minutes for the actual work, as what one of my very wise friend said: Everything that happens, happens two times, once in our mind and once when it happens because we made it happen. :)

Good luck, and say you love me!

JiaSha Earrings with Garnet

IMG_7223 IMG_7225 IMG_7230 IMG_7236 IMG_7239 IMG_7244

The JiaSha Knot Tutorial is still $2 cheaper at the moment, my plan is listing them in my Etsy and ArtFire store sometime this week, and that would mean the price will be revert back to it’s original price then. So seriously, grab it now whilst the promotion is still on!

Made these just in time before she leave. The owner’s born in January, that’s why its Garnet.

She asked why were those spaces uneven? I told her that’s because she started to examine my creations like an artist – instead of someone who’d wore jewelry as jewelry. The difference between the two was – artist obverse details and recognizes flaw(s), the latter see jewelry as a whole and often won’t realize it’s imperfection(s). :P

Sounds cunning didn’t I? LOL. I am not 100% lying and you knew it.

And last but not least, I told her not to worry about the uneven spaces, they all will adjust themselves to sit at the right places after awhile!!!

Earrings details:

  • weight: 6.3gram in total.
  • 4cm tall and 1” at it’s widest measure.
  • Garnet bead (1cm X 7mm)
  • Rock Crystal

Now, am off for some book reading before start to work on another commissioned piece again! Enjoy the Sunday!

For LC, yet to be finalized.

IMG_7174IMG_7190 IMG_7201IMG_7208 IMG_7215IMG_7200

I told you I have 2 more JiaSha pieces to go at top of my list – but I can’t help but have to mobilize my tight schedule for this. The requirement was: Studs, and black. So here’s something I’ve came up with – studs with Smoky Quartz. I want the owner to see this in person first before I break my silver. Will update you how it go next week, so check back! Meanwhile, have a great weekend!
