[Prototype] Wire Jewelry Malaysia – Silver WAU-Hoop Earrings, Version Three

Presenting Version three of Silver WAU-hoop earrings. Sorry for the delay, I have been down with cold and have been coughing my lung out for almost 6 days now, went for X-ray (yes you heard me right) and doctor said there are white dots around my lung, I saw the film too, it looks like a spider net, friend said it’s shows that my lung is infected, but good thing is doctor confirmed that there isn’t any abnormal growth. All these were due to the poor quality of air I am breathing in recently, lots of family members and friends fell ill due to our dear neighbor Indonesia burn their forest yet again – and if you don’t already know, this had been their yearly activity that had never failed to happen, usually it happens in mid of the year, although this year they had delayed it, but now we are still blanketed by smog from forests fire in Indonesia, Singapore didn’t escape this time.

Well back to WAU-Hoop Earrings version three, customer confirmed on this design (as I have expected), and I am going to break my silver to construct it as soon as I recover from my cough.
I have used 20ga, 18ga, 28ga and 30ga wires for this creation. Hope you enjoy viewing!

[Prototype] Wire Jewelry Malaysia – Silver WAU-Hoop Earrings, Version Two

IMG_4675
As promised, version two this is. :)
After showing Version one to the customer, he was happy with it but I felt something is missing. Those are just very very simple loops and swirls and I thought I could do better than that, so I went back home and gave it another go.
I have used 18ga, 20ga, 22ga, 28ga, and 30ga wires for this. Same materials, different wires arrangement that’s all.
IMG_4677 Stay tuned for Version Three! :)

Happy weekend all!

[Prototype] Wire Jewelry Malaysia – Silver WAU-Hoop Earrings, Version One

IMG_4669

Custom Jewelry design is definitely picking up in Malaysia, myself and other Malaysian Jewelry artist friends was just talking about how our customer base had slowly changed from solely foreigner market to having Malaysian customers, and instead of like how they used to turned their back when we told them our price, they came to us with correct budget now, and they understand it’s silver nature that they will turn black (tarnished) after awhile.

Here’s another commissioned order by a Malaysian customer. This time I made a Wau-hoop earrings.

Extract from wikipedia:

Wau bulan is an intricately designed Malaysian moon-kite (normally with floral motifs) that is traditionally flown by men in the Malaysian state of Kelantan. It is one of Malaysia's national symbols, along some others being the kris and hibiscus. The reverse side of the fifty-cent coin of Malaysia (1989 series) features an intricately-decorated wau bulan with a hummer on top[1]. The logo of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) is also based on this kite.

There are many types of wau in Malaysia, each with its own specialty. Wau kucing (cat kite) and wau merak (peacock kite) are some of the variants.

This is the first attempt, and it’s a prototype, so please bear with me if you have spotted any flaws. :)

I made 3 versions of WAU-Hoop Earrings for my customer to choose, not because he’d asked for it, it was just me who’d thought I can come up with better designs - and I was right, he chose the 3rd version.

I will be posting them soon – so stay tuned and check back often!

New Step By Step Wire Jewelry Tutorial Released - By Bobbi Maw

Happy Wednesday all! It's been totally warm over here in Malaysia and I have been hiding indoor for commissioned orders, and due to the hectic working hours, I actually didn't have time to photograph them nor updating my blog. I hope you have missed me though. *grin*

And now, A little update/announcement I would like to make to keep you posted with what's going on recently!

If you follow Bobbi's (from myWiredImaginations) works, in August 2010, Bobbi published her new design, Nose Rings aka Honey I Shrunk the Bracelets and had been having alot of attention from the community. Friends in forum started to shows interests and told Bobbi that they really liked how tiny these hoops were getting, and it put the thought in her head, that maybe they would work as nose rings too. Then two months later, i.e. October 2010, Bobbi wrote a tutorial for this design.

A brief description of this wire jewelry tutorial:
These wonderful hoop earrings evolved from Bobbi's Swarovski Crystal Bracelet design. They can be made as big or as tiny as you like – She’d “shrunk” them down small enough for a nose ring and of course they started as a bracelet. This is a high-level beginner to intermediate project. The project is not complicated, but does assume you are familiar with; basic wire handling skills, such as cleaning, straightening wire, turning a basic loop, and completing a basic binding wrap.

Check out this tutorial soon so that you can make them in time for Christmas!

Wedding Event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Video

Event held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the couple flew back from Australia to celebrate their big day with their families and beloved friends. You gotta love technologies of which have made all these possible and convenient.

Hennley's photographer published Hennley + Devin video 2 days after the wedding - ladies and gentlemen, if you were to recall, this really isn't something common back then. Usually in order to put together everything and make a video will need at least 2 weeks, and look at what we have today - her big day was on 10th October 2010, and then now we all can see the clip!

I can't embed the video in just yet as it is now solely a property of step.com.my, wait til Hennley got everything that comes within the package, I will try to get some more photos from her and if possible, embed this video in my website. So stay tuned and check back!

Here's another photo/view of Bridal SilverLace Earrings, how it looks like behind - Yeah, it's NEAT. :)
Last but not least, if you are interested in creating something similar, Hennley had granted me the permission to write the whole making process into tutorial, thank you, Hennley babe. :)

TUTORIAL: Bridal SilverLace Earrings

I hope you enjoy the video, and making Bridal SilverLace Earrings. :)

Instant Download Step-By-Step Wire Jewelry Tutorial

Bridal SilverLace Earrings Tutorial is now available for download at de Cor’s Handmades official website – please take advantage of the 20% discount for second item too if you are intended to get more than just this tutorial.

October 2010 definitely is a wedding month in Malaysia! Basically I have to attend to wedding dinners every weekend starting from the first week of the month start. Hennley briefly mentioned about getting herself a pair of earrings last year, and the official order came in February this year. I have constructed 3 versions of this earring before finalizing the design. Here’s the write up if you are interested:

So here it is, for Autumn 2010, I am proud to present my new Step By Step Wire Jewelry Tutorial, filed under Wired Chinese Knot series, the Bridal SilverLace Earrings Tutorial. I choose to publish this today because today, the historical wonderful day of 10-10-10, is Ms. Hennley Sah and Mr. Devin Loong’s wedding! For those who’d requested for this tutorial, would you also please grant this lovely couple your blessing because, Hennley is the main source of my inspiration for this design, and she is too kind that she’d let me write the instruction in composing this supposedly private, exclusive and one-of-a-kind design into a tutorial, so now people may learn how I have constructed this pair of earrings. I myself is benefited too because I forget how I make all my designs too easily and now with this tutorial, I can certainly remember how it was done, and at the same time many handmade jewelry lovers too will know how this was made. Hennley, you are amazing!

I hope you enjoy your weekend! Til then, take care!

FREE Step By Step Wire Jewelry Tutorial by Kristin from KSJewelleryDesigns

It's been raining alot in Malaysia lately,  but instead of the usual, fierce thunder storms (hey thunder storms are quite a norm here if you don't know!), they are peaceful quiet rains, which I love most. Malaysia aren't exactly "the" place you would want to visit if you don't fancy walking underneath the Sun, but if you live in Australia, which is now too cold for you and you would like to get some warm air, then you may consider Malaysia especially Australian dollars are so strong right now, oh and there are so many beaches here too!

So, what's new today? You gotta love this. :)

Kristin Smith from K S Jewellery Designs want me to bring you this good news - that she got me upload her Step By Step Wire Jewelry Tutorial named Spiral Adorned in http://de-cors.com for you to download for free.

Step By Step Wire Jewelry Tutorial available for download!
You gotta thank Kristin for this, she didn't even have this in her blog nor Etsy store, and she is generous enough to let me post this tutorial for FREE in http://de-cors.com, with just one pure intention: to add value to people who love handmade jewelry.

Spiral Adorned tutorial is now available for FREE DOWNLOAD for all http://de-cors.com members (sign up now if you haven't, it's FREE), if you would allow me, may I request you leave a comment here so that Kristin knows you loved her contribution - just imagine your beads turned to be spiral adorned after going through her teaching, it works really well with both colorful and mono-color beads, and you gotta love the idea.

Learn the technique, and go ahead multiplying to create lots of different spirals, and last but not least, give the credit where it's due, Kristin and I would thank you.

Wish you have a happy happy Sunday!
