Repurpose: Bridal Veil in Malaysia

A friend called up for an urgent help. Needed a bridal veil for her pre-wedding photography session and she couldn't find a suitable wedding veil in time.

She sent me a picture of her wearing her wedding gown, and a picture of a wedding veil that she would like to have. I told her instead of trying to find one, it might be easier for her to DIY one.

So off I went and hunt for something with WHITE fabric flowers, and boy was it hard to find something totally WHITE? You bet. It's easy to find stuff with creamy colors, it's extremely challenging to source something totally white, indeed.

So finally I've found a hair clip with 2 huge white fabric flowers. Then I remember the supplier I have sourced my hair-clips and ribbons from have gave me some loose items as gift and there were two tiny flowers in white with "blings' at the center. I thought it would be perfect to put them all together.

Two fabric flowers were glued onto the hair clip:

The flower was composed by collecting and gathering fabric with glue, of which I don't quite prefer. I tore them off from the hair clip, and spread opened the fabric, sew with with thread, then gather them again. It's tricky to gather such thin and low density fabric, I am glad it turned out right after a couple of attempts.

The friend bought a veil, and we ditched the original focal piece of that veil, took only the veil itself. Because we have 2 flowers right now, she wanted one in white pearls and another with blue pearls. I thought it'd be great if she could choose which flower to wear during photoshooting, so instead of sewing the fabric flower onto the veil, I made it into hair clip, so she could swap.

Here's the fabric flower featuring white swarovski crystal pearls and the default blings:

Took a photo of them both before they are off to serve their new owner:

Wearing it as hair clip instead of a veil on my little one, too cute, isn't she? :)

Hope things turned out right on her photoshootings, will post again once I have her pre-wedding photos featuring these fabric flowers. :)

Malaysia Handmade: Butterfly Jewelry Hair Clip with No-slip Grip

Name: Butterfly Jewelry Hair Clip with No-slip Grip.

I try to make my little one a little something every month, and this month I decided to make something slightly bigger, and something colorful. I hardly make anything colorful in my line of designs, so this new try is pretty exciting.

So here it is. It's a butterfly, with white, blur, dark green gold and pink Swarovski Crystal Pearl beads, featuring pink CZ Stones and Green CZ Stone. I don't have Grosgrain blue ribbons, only satins; and a piece of 4.5" of hot pink grosgrain ribbons.

Her Dad's comment was this does looks like something suitable for ladies at all age...

Can you imagine it on a toddler, a teenager or even a bride's head?
Something old, something new;
Something borrowed, something blue;
And a silver sixpence in her shoes.
Do you think my little daughter would wear this for a really long time? All the way til on the day she gets married? I am thinking too far long, heh. I wonder if all mothers does that.

A side view of it the butterfly:

In my hand. I didn't notice those glues on the wings until I was processing these photos for a blog post. So silly. I only pay attentions onto those wires, though those glues can be easily removed. I shall examine all my pieces before I publish them in the future, I can't stand this kinda silly flaws, it's poking my eyes now. LOL.

And this is my precious little one. She crawled over and pecked on my cheek for the very, very first time this morning. Heh. Growing up too fast. Too fast.

Hope you had fun viewing my handmade little jewelry hairclip, I look forward in creating something again soon!

Golden Color Wire Jewelry Bow Hair Clip

Making baby hair accessories can be so addictive, I made another two! But would save the other one for next blog entry. :)

This time I made a yellow classic bow hair clip with the same measurements I've used to make the hot-pink hairclip:
- 2" long bare hair clip
- 1 piece of 4.5" 3/8 inch Grosgrain Ribbon to wrap around the bare hair clip.
- 2 pieces of 4" 3/8 inch Grosgrain Ribbon
- 1 piece of 2" 3/6 inch Grosgrain Ribbon (I sew my wire jewelry focal right at the center of the ribbon, vertically.)
- 1 piece of 1cm X 3cm grip

Tool:
- Scissors (sharp one)
- Lighter
- Hot Glue Gun
- Glue for hot glue gun
- Wires (20ga, 28ga and 30ga)
- 8mm tall tear drop beads (I used Gold color CZ Tear Drop Stone)
- 3mm round beads (I used Swarovski Crystal Pearl beads)

Again it has no-slip grip installed.

And it look absolutely extraordinary on my baby's head - it will be too on it's new owner's, I genuinely hope the toddler and her mother will both like it! :)

Stay tuned for my next blog entry! :)

DIY Wire Jewelry Bow Hair Clip (with no-slip grip)

Spinning off the previous attempt, I made yet another Jewelry Hair Clip! This time, I made a classic bow hair clip by following instructions from Ashley's Simple Bow Hair Clips (with non-slip grip) tutorial!

So have you made your's yet? No? You really should have, it's easy, Ashley had all details covered!

And here's the materials and it's measurements I've used:
- 2" long bare hair clip
- 1 piece of 4.5" 3/8 inch Grosgrain Ribbon to wrap around the bare hair clip.
- 2 pieces of 4" 3/8 inch Grosgrain Ribbon
- 1 piece of 2" 3/6 inch Grosgrain Ribbon (I sew my wire jewelry focal right at the center of the ribbon, vertically.)
- 1 piece of 1cm X 3cm grip

Tool:
- Scissors (sharp one)
- Lighter
- Hot Glue Gun
- Glue for hot glue gun
- Wires (20ga, 28ga and 30ga)
- 8mm tall tear drop beads (I used pink color CZ Tear Drop Stone)
- 3mm round beads (I used Swarovski Crystal Pearl beads)

And I JUST realized that I did not glue the grip onto a piece of felt first - but it works anyway. :)

The view of the non-slip grips:

And though this isn't meant for my little one, I let her model it anyway. Look absolutely stunning ain't it? I do hope people would notice this isn't an usual cute baby hair-clip, it's custom-made, and made with lots of love. :)

The little new owner ought to love this little jewelry hair clip! :)

Hope you have fun viewing, and make some of bow hair clips soon! :)

DIY Wire Jewelry Baby Hair Clip

This is a DIY Wire Jewelry Baby Hair Clip with Non Slip Grip! *big big grin*

The focal is something I have made in year 2009, a stud that I have conceptualized for a friend but it never did materialized, she didn't like it, and I didn't have time to revisit the design then later, we lost touch. I hope she is well, though.

So here, inspired by mgypsy's Little by Little studs, I made this very cute hair pin for my 6 months old. :) This is the first time I am making a hair clip, I hurt my wrist and I almost can't operate that hot glue gun (yes, using hot glue gun for the first time too yay!)

I can't be knowing everything! So here's the instruction I have followed, Simple Bow Hair Clips (with non-slip grip) by Ashley @ Make-it-love-it.

I bought my ribbons and bare hair clip from DIYHairBows.com, non-slip grip, hot glue gun and glues from Mr. DIY store (local store in our neighborhood).

My bare hair clip is 2" long, so the ribbon has to be about 4.5"; the grip's measure 1cm X 3.5cm, and the green ribbon is about 3" (I forgot to take note! I will in the next attempt!)

Ashley's instruction is very easy to follow, you should also be trying it out yourself. :)

Here's how it look on my baby's head. :D
Hope you have fun viewing, and eventually, trying. :D
